In exclusive on Udinese Channel, during the show “Udinese Tonight”, the Brazilian Maicosuel has given his first interview as a Udinese footballer, talking about his new adventure. “I was given the nickname “the Wizard” when I started playing with Botafogo – he said- I scored two goals in one match and the last one was scored in the last minute, and from then on I played a very good championship. They cheered me like that because I had such a good relationship with that squad: I cried when I left, I feel a great affection for them and I miss them a lot”.

You spent some time in Germany, what do you recall? “It was a good experience, even if not particularly positive under a professional point of view. But it was been important”.

Your best quality? “Hard to talk about me in these terms, perhaps it’s speed”.

What jersey number would you like to have? “I have always played wearing number 10. But it’s no problem, I only think of playing”.
What if we mention Di Natale? “He is acknowledged at an international level, he’s known everywhere. He is plenty of qualities, I can learn a lot from him”.

Would you like to play with your national team? “Yes, it is my dream”.

Would you rather play as a playmaker or as a side forward? “Playmaker”.

A technical virtue? “I am humble enough to know I am full of flaws, and I know I have to work hard to do better”.

Saudade? “I hope I don’t feel that, I hope I can do good at Udinese”.

Who do you go on well here? “Everybody. I have played with them and like the whole of them”.

Zico, Amoroso and today Maicosuel? “Zico was a great player and a great friend of mine, I met him in Rio. He had the same problem I had, so he helped me a lot”.

How are you on free-kicks? “Usually in Brazil I try them a lot, I want to make them perfect”.

Is it harder to train here or in Brazil? “I just have to settle in. it’s harder here for now, but I will make it with time”.

What do you think of Guidolin? “I have to respect him and do as I’m told, if Udinese have gone so far it means we can still do good”.

Champions? “It’s very important for a player. It’s one of the best shocases of the world and can become part of Udinese’s history. We want to achieve this goal”.

How is the training camp going? “Fine. Pereyra is a great friend of mine and I’ve met him here. Armero, Badu, Faraoni, Muriel: all brilliant”.

How was your last season in Brazil? When did you know Udinese were looking for you? “I don’t know the date, one month ago more or less. They looked for me then, not before. My agent hadn’t told me”.

Did you know Udinese already? “Yes, Zico had told me something about them”.

Who do you get your inspiration from? “Now it’s Neymar, but it used to be Ronaldinho”.

Is Brazilian championship growing? “Not all footballers are focused on money, that’s why they wouldn’t leave Brazil. All they want is to be acknowledged at a professional level. Italy is full of important Clubs. But Italian championship is not the world’s best, Brazilian is. Italian championship is hard, I think, even if I haven’t played it yet”.

What do you think of Udine so far? “I liked what I saw. There are many restaurants and people treat me right”.

A message to your new fans? “I want my name to be known in this squad. I will give my life for the team. This job gives me many opportunities: I help Udinese with their goals, they help me with mine”.
