Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has indicated he would like to sign a contract extension with the Anfield outfit.

The England skipper is entering the final year-and-a-half of his current deal and there have been questions about how long the 32-year-old can continue to play at the top level.

But UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup winner Gerrard insists he is feeling 100 per cent fit and wants to prolong his career for as long as possible.

The midfielder is also excited to be a part of the new era at Liverpool under Brendan Rodgers, who earned a first Premier League win in Saturday's thrashing of Norwich City.

"I am contracted for another 18 months or so," Gerrard, who scored in the 5-2 win at Carrow Road, told Sky Sports News. "I am really happy. I am enjoying my football. I feel physically strong.

"I want to go on for as long as I can. I love playing for the club. I am captain. I am living the dream. I do not want that to end.

"Hopefully I can play and contribute in this new regime under Brendan Rodgers, because it is very exciting."

Liverpool next host Udinese in the Europa League on Thursday before on Sunday welcoming Stoke City to Anfield prior to the international break.

And Gerrard thinks the victory over Norwich, which was inspired by a Luis Suarez hat-trick, will provide some momentum.

"It gives you huge confidence and belief when moving into the next games," he said.

"But we knew, as players, if we kept listening to the manager and listening to the messages he was putting across, the first win was only round the corner.

"It should have come against Manchester United the week before. It should have come against Manchester City three or four weeks ago.

"If we keep playing the way we are playing and keep showing the same effort and determination, there will be many more wins just around the corner."
