Martin Skrtel believes the new contracts signed by both he and Daniel Agger recently means they could continue to be Liverpool's bedrock for years to come.

The pair have each put pen to paper on long-term deals since the start of the 2012-13 campaign, while on the pitch they've maintained their indomitable partnership at the heart of the Reds defence.

Agger inked his new contract earlier this month - and Skrtel was left delighted by the news.

He told Liverpoolfc.com: "I think it was very good news for Daniel and everybody at Liverpool Football Club.

"Daniel has shown he is a top player and defender, and it's good for the future that he's signed a new deal. I'm happy about it.
