Through an official note, Benfica denied being in talks with Beijing Guoan on trading Brazilian international forward Jonas (32) to Chinese club:

"Facing the news coming to the public, Sport Lisboa and Benfica informs that so far no concrete proposal has come from the Beijing Guoan Chinese club to acquire the player Jonas.

We remember that Jonas has a contract with Sport Lisboa e Benfica until July 2018, with a definite termination clause. Being an asset of enormous value, and a very well-known item of pride for all the Benifiquistas, recently, the player again manifested his pleasure and total commitment in being part of our club".
