To this end, Bianconeri top brass are weighing up replacements, and chief executive Giuseppe Marotta, according to latest rumours, has targeted Italian 57-year old Luciano Spalletti, currently training AS Roma, as his first choice. His current contract with Giallorossi expires after next June.
