Lionel Messi has signed a new contract with Barcelona, according to La Liga president Javier Tebas.

Reports the five-time Ballon d'Or-winner had put pen-to-paper on an extension a day after his wedding were subsequently dismissed after inadvertent revelations by a string of bungling directors. Several later claimed it had merely been "agreed" and they were still waiting for the official signature. However, Tebas insists a new deal for the Argentina superstar is all done and dusted.

Barcelona are yet to announce anything officially, but Tebas insists he has been told the Argentine has extended his deal at the Nou Camp. Tebas said: "Messi has a contract which has been renewed. Contracts are official when they are signed and not when it is announced that they have been signed. Messi has signed with Barcelona, if I have not been lied to, he has signed."
