Kretinsky is reportedly in early talks to buy a 27 percent share in the club for roughly £700 million, according to Sky Sports.

Kretinsky, 46, is the co-owner of Sparta Prague and the owner of Central Europe's largest energy provider, Prague-based EPH. He also owns major holdings in Royal Mail and Sainsbury's.

David Sullivan and David Gold, who control 51.1 and 35.1 percent of West Ham respectively, are co-owners.

If finalized, it would be the latest in a string of major Premier League club purchases, including the contentious sale of Newcastle United to a Saudi-led group earlier this year.

Three Czech Republic players are on West Ham's books. Sparta's biggest opponents Slavia Prague recruited key players Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal, while Alex Kral, on loan from Spartak Moscow, also came through at Slavia.
