PREMIER - Burnley boss Dyche: "We aren't far from our first victory"

Eyeing next Premier League match against Norwich City, Burnley manager, Sean Dyche, stated:

"The thing I have learnt about football is that whatever you want to call these games, it doesn’t always work out like that – trust me. It is about how many games you can win to get points on the table, however they come and who they come against. But the idea of getting points on the board for us, is more important than whether the old adage of a ‘six-pointer’ is true for this game. I would say it is more a case in this game of both teams vying for a win, because it changes the narrative a little bit. In other seasons we have stopped those stories very early in the year.

At the minute that is the obvious narrative is: ‘when will you get the first win’. I don’t think we are far off at all, but I have to look at the whole season’s work, not just the immediacy of the next game. We can’t overthink it, because a lot of our performances have been right, but as I have said I am not naive to our industry. You have to get wins and points on the board.”

Certainly with Vyds (Matej Vydra), I think he has a strong chance of being available for us. I don’t think Maxwel (Cornet) will be this week – he is going well but it will be a quick turnaround. Coming off in the manner he did, it would probably be too risky. Jay Rodriguez is back on the grass with the physio, so he has got of chance of being involved on Saturday. Kevin Long is just coming back to full fitness, Connor Roberts needs a bit more time but is back on the grass. Everyone else is fine.

It is tough for them – we have been through it ourselves coming up for the second time and it is difficult. You can’t find yourselves in the Premier League without being a decent outfit. But this league is a difficult task. I’m not overthinking about where they are. I am thinking they are a good outfit who will go for the win, and we have to try and look after ourselves”.
