PREMIER - De Bruyne opens up about his relationship with Mourinho at Chelsea
Like Romelu Lukaku (28), Chelsea failed to exploit the full potential of Kevin De Bruyne (30) during his stint at Stamford Bridge (2012-2014, 1 assist in 9 appearances ) at the beginning of his career.
During his stay with the Blues, the Manchester City midfielder has known no less than 4 coaches: André Villas-Boas, Roberto Di Matteo, Rafael Benitez and especially José Mourinho.
Guest of the Play Sports podcast recently, the Red Devil took the opportunity to discuss his relationship with the 58-year-old Portuguese technician, towards whom he visibly has no resentment.
"I never spoke to Mourinho about the reasons why I was not used all the time," KDB said at first, in comments reported by Het Nieuwsblad, before continuing. “I trained hard, I showed good things. But it's a myth that if you train well, you have a better chance of playing football. This is not true. When I realized I wasn't going to play anymore, I loosened my grip a little in training, then I learned to behave differently.
I saw no way out of this situation. I just wanted to leave. But I don't hate Mourinho, I'm not a child. It just didn't work.” No hard feelings, but a touch of bitterness, therefore, towards the current coach of AS Roma.
