Kevin De Bruyne is putting himself in contention to feature for Manchester City on Saturday after training with Pep Guardiola's squad this week.

The midfielder has been struggling with an ankle injury sustained during the European Championship, a problem he encountered before starting Belgium's quarter-final defeat by Italy.

As reported by Daily Mail, Guardiola made clear at the start of the campaign that City are managing De Bruyne's issue, with the talisman so far playing just 11 minutes when coming off the bench at Tottenham on the opening weekend.

The 30-year-old stayed behind in the North West and has taken part in team sessions with those still at the club.

Guardiola is likely to make a late call on his fitness before the trip to Leicester City, while fellow midfielder Phil Foden has largely still been undergoing individual sessions as he works his way back from a foot injury.
