In a tense 2-2 draw at Anfield on Sunday, Manchester City came from behind twice to deny Liverpool a return to the top of the Premier League.

Liverpool survived a City storm in the first half and then delivered a sucker punch to the English champions when Sadio Mane scored just before the hour mark.

After a moment of individual brilliance in which he jinked around four defenders before shooting past Ederson, Mohamed Salah appeared to have won the game.

Kevin De Bruyne's deflected shot off Joel Matip nine minutes from time, though, rescued the point Pep Guardiola's team deserved.

Milner escaped a second yellow card after chopping down Silva, which enraged Guardiola.

Salah's spectacular single strike turned the game in Liverpool's favor seconds later, making his mood even worse.

He was then cautioned for going too far with his complaints, but five minutes later he was ecstatic when De Bruyne's attempt from the outside of the area deflected in off Joel Matip.

In a tense finish, Liverpool had the greatest chance to win the game, but Rodri saved Fabinho's goal-bound attempt after Ederson fumbled at a free-kick.
