The New York Red Bulls have strengthened their defense by announcing the signing of French defender Issiar Dramé to an MLS deal that runs through 2021 with a 2022 option.

Tom Bogert of MLSsoccer.com first reported the deal at the beginning of the month, ahead of the club's formal announcement on Tuesday.

Dramé, 21, comes to RBNY from the Ukrainian Premier League, where he most recently played for Olimpik Donetsk, where he made 18 league appearances in 2020-21. Dramé, a 6-foot-5, 176-pound native of Ivry-sur-Seine, France, is a colossal presence in center defense.

“We are pleased to add Drame to our roster,” RBNY sporting director Kevin Thelwell said. “We hope he can add the necessary depth to our backline.”

Dramé began his professional career in 2016 with Olympique Lyon, making 16 appearances for the club's reserve team Lyon B before joining Olimpik Donetsk.
