A free agent after last season's poor-capping performance, spent playing for Genoa (since December 2017), former Italian international forward Giuseppe Rossi (31), interviewed by Pro Soccer USA, stated: "Since I'm being unattached longer than I expected, I asked New York Red Bulls to allow training together with their team, since I wanted to be in touch with a very good squad. I can keep myself in good shape and have fun here. New Jersey's in my heart, I'm blood-related to that place. And I'd be happy to stay put in New York, and join MLS". Rossi was born in Newark, New Jersey, on February 1st, 1987.
