Playing for Tottenham since 2016/17, Kenyan international defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama (28), now more and more of an outcast under Mauricio Pochettino, was very close to join Olympique Marseille, according to France Football. After having agreed an 8 million euros' worth buy-back loan deal with Spurs, Ligue 1 club turned to Valentin Rongier, signing the latter from Nantes, and leaving London side in the proverbial halfpenny place. Former Southampton and Celtic half-back was, right beforehand, meant to join Club Brugge.
