During his autobiographical book "Suddenly A Footballer: My Story" presentation and meet&greet, Manchester United attacking midfielder Juan Manuel Mata, asked about the chapter regarding his troubled relationship with José Mourinho, who trained him first at Chelsea, then as Red Devils themselves' boss, explained: "When Van Gaal left, there were rumours Mou would have joined in soon. Few days later, rumours turned out to be true, and Mou was named by the club. My dear ones were therefore worried about me, but I just wanted to face what was happening with a clear and bright mind. Meanwhile, many false stories were spread by media, including me not having any future in the club, and have already agreed on miving out. That's true, I hadn't had that much fun with José, when we were together at Chelsea, and in six months my career took a different turn. But, on a personal plan, there wasn't any trouble with him".
