Ahead of Atalanta epochal victory over Valencia, driving La Dea into CL quarter finals for the first time in their history, Italian club manager, Gian Piero Gasperini, stated:
"The penalty we scored in the early part of the match was the right fuel for us to keep going. We struggled a bit during the first half, while things improved throughout the second one. We conceded some goals we could have avoided letting them score. Anyway, we didn't just want to pass the round. We wanted to win, with all our souls.
We are incredibly happy and proud to embody our land, our people, which are both suffering very much right now, due to the health emergency ongoing. So many cheers and pep messages reached out to us. We'll be celebrating all together, after all this mess is over".
