CHELSEA, Giroud: "I was close to leave. But now everything's different"

23.07.2020 13.54 by Claudio Colla  read 492

Interviewed by Infosport+, French international striker and Chelsea man of the hour Olivier Giroud (33), addressed again with rumours linking him to an Italian transfer, notably to either Inter Milan or Lazio, stated: "I was actually close to leave Chelsea last January. I wasn't getting on the pitch, I wasn't happy, and I wanted to be elsewhere. Now, however, everything's different. Lampard started to actually see me, to entrust me with more game time, and things tarted turning out for the best. I know I managed to leave a mark of my stay, by scoring several goals to start. Though things move fast, and you can deem nothing as a given, I can see myself keeping on playing in English football". Playing for Blues since January 2018, former Arsenal hitman had his ongoing deal extended, until June 2021, just two months ago.
