Addressed with the Chelsea experience he's been embarking on, 36-year old Brazilian international centre-back Thiago Silva stated: "When I notified I was ready to join Chelsea, Lampard sent me a message. It was a pic of the two fo us together, during a friendly match at Maracanà, back when he was a player. I never thought I would have been trained by him. I'm proud of it, as well as I'm proud to have faced him as a player, since he's one of the best midfielders ever. We talk a lot, all the time, and we discuss many things.

I learnt a lot from my experience in Italy. I had the opportunity to play alongside defenders such as Maldini and Nesta, who were great teachers for me. It's my first time in Premier League, and this football has got a heavier pace than Italian and French ones. I hope I can get my contract extended".
