OFFICIAL - Former Atletico Madrid captain GABI quits football

Through a post released from his Instagram profile, 37-year old Spanish midfielder Gabi announced having quit playing professional football. Captaining Atletico Madrid from 2012/13 to 2017/18, the experienced playmaker wrote: "When I started to play football, I could have never guessed all my dreams would have come true, to the extent they did. Today is the day I must put a stop to my career as a football player. I want to thank everyone I've been walking together with on this path, including my teammates, my trainers, everyone wortking in the clubs I've been playing for. Besides, of course, my family, always supporting me through the hardest of times".

Gabi last played for Qatari team Al-Sadd.
