FC Barcelona apparently put out feelers in the direction of England in the last few moves of the summer transfer window. As reported by The Athletic, the Catalans tried to loan Rodrigo (30) from Leeds United a few hours before the end of the transfer window.

According to the report, Marcelo Bielsa did not want to give up the Spaniard. Since Leeds could not have provided the Argentine coach with an adequate replacement in the short time, it was decided to reject the Catalans.

Rodrigo was looking for his top form last year and is still waiting for his first goal this season.

On 29 August 2020, Leeds United announced the signing of Rodrigo on a four-year deal for a club-record fee of £27 million (€30 million). He made his Premier League debut for them in the first match of the season against reigning champions Liverpool on 12 September, coming on as a substitute in the 4–3 defeat at Anfield. Four days later, he made his first start in a 1–1 draw with League One side Hull City in the EFL Cup (penalty shootout loss).
