Injury concerns continue to plague Eden Hazard. As Carlo Ancelotti announced at the Real Madrid press conference in advance of the game against Valencia CF (9 p.m.), Hazard's knee is still causing problems.

On Wednesday evening against Inter Milan (1-0), the Belgian international sat on the bench for the entire season. "Hazard didn't play at Inter because his knee was bothering him," explains Ancelotti.

So the decision was not purely sporty. Immediately after the Champions League game, the Italian coach said: "I thought about replacing him, but I decided on Rodrygo". Hazard could not yet play two games in a row, according to Ancelotti. For the game against Valencia, however, Hazard is again a possible starting candidate.

On 7 June 2019, La Liga club Real Madrid announced on their website that Hazard would be signing for them for the 2019–20 season. He signed a contract until 30 June 2024 for a reported fee of €100 million, which could rise to €146.1 million due to additional fees, on a deal worth £400,000 per week.
