LIGUE 1 - Mourinho opens up after jubilee duel: "I was terrified"

Jose Mourinho has managed to win his jubilee duel. The Portuguese top coach saw his AS Roma score the winning goal against Sassuolo in injury time and gave his thousandth game as a trainer a perfect end. Afterwards, Mourinho opened up about his tension beforehand.

Mourinho confessed after the game against DAZN that he had not been honest. "I lied to everyone. I told my players and staff that this was not a special game for me, but that is not true. A thousand games is really a beautiful number. I did not want to lose this game at all costs and preferably to win."

That worked thanks to a goal in injury time from Stephan El Sharaawy. It sparked ecstasy at [The Special One]. "I was terrified that people would forever remind me of this defeat, but luckily we won. After that goal I felt like a twelve-year-old boy", the success coach smiled after the game.

Mourinho won 639 of his thousand matches. Thanks to the third win of the season, AS Roma is now at the top of the Italian league, along with AC Milan and Napoli. The Portuguese previously had very successful periods as a trainer of FC Porto, Chelsea, Inter, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. Only at the latter club did he not win any prizes.
