The San Jose Earthquakes drew 1-1 with Minnesota United FC at PayPal Park on Tuesday evening in a match between two Western Conference playoff contenders.

San Jose grabbed the lead in the 12th minute when Espinoza raced into the Loons' box and his low pass into the center was deflected into the net by defender Bakaye Dibassy's leg for an own goal.

A red card to Earthquakes defender Nathan in the 21st minute negated the hosts' good start, allowing the Loons to score 60 seconds later through midfielder Wil Trapp. Minnesota, however, failed to win three points on the road despite having a man advantage for the last 70 minutes of the game.

Man of the match went to San Jose midfielder, Judson who showed his flexibility by switching to center defense and putting on a clinic, thwarting Minnesota's assault for the last 70 minutes of the game.
