On Thursday, Germany's Hansi Flick became the first coach in the country's history to win his first six games in command, crushing ten-man Liechtenstein 9-0 in a low-stakes World Cup qualifier.

Germany hammered nine past Group J's bottom side to give Flick a record-breaking sixth consecutive win since taking over in August, having already qualified for next year's tournament in Qatar.

Flick's long-serving predecessor Joachim Loew had the previous best start as a Germany coach, winning his first five games before drawing with Cyprus in 2006.

After defender Niklas Suele tested positive for coronavirus earlier in the week, and Joshua Kimmich and Jamal Musiala were placed into quarantine as a precaution, Germany started without several crucial players.
