Roberto Martinez has just announced his roster for the last two qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup against Estonia and Wales. After the Final Four of the Nations League, the national coach again opted for a larger core and there was also room for two new names. Wout Faes (Stade Reims) and Dante Vanzeir (Union) can report for the first time.

In October, Martinez was allowed to call up only 23 players, this time again choosing 29 players. Romelu Lukaku and Michy Batshuayi are missing as expected due to injuries, allowing Christian Benteke to rejoin the selection. He will face competition from Divock Origi, who is called up again after a 13-month absence, and Dante Vanzeir, who sees his strong performance at Union rewarded.

In addition to Vanzeir, Wout Faes also celebrates his first selection. The 23-year-old defender must form an extra option in the back, where Thomas Vermaelen again cannot travel from Japan and Zinho Vanheusden is still out. Other observations: Arthur Theate and Charles De Ketelaere keep their place in the selection, while Albert Sambi Lokonga and Dries Mertens return. The comeback of the latter ensures that Dodi Lukebakio loses weight.
