Egypt's Mohamed Salah landed in Gabon on Saturday to join the Pharaohs for their World Cup qualifying match, according to the Egyptian soccer organization.

Salah of Liverpool has joined the Egyptian squad in training for Sunday's game against Gabon in Franceville, according to the organization.

Salah, 29, was unable to play in Egypt's 1-0 triumph over Angola on Sept. 1 in Cairo because Liverpool refused to release him due to coronavirus limitations. Mohamed Elneny, an Arsenal midfielder, was also absent from the game against Angola.

Because Egypt is on the coronavirus "red list" in the United Kingdom, the two players would have had to quarantine upon their return from Cairo and would have missed two Premier League games apiece.

Elneny did not go to Franceville and will not play against Gabon due to a muscle injury acquired during training on Thursday, according to a second statement from the association.
