After his call-up was revoked by the Uruguayan Football Association, Manchester United announced on Monday that Edinson Cavani will miss Uruguay's next World Cup qualifiers against Peru, Bolivia, and Ecuador.

Last Monday, the Premier League confirmed that its clubs will not release players for international matches played in nations on the UK government's travel blacklist.

Players who travel to red-list nations on international duty are not exempt from quarantine upon their return and must stay in a government-provided hotel for ten days.

"After his call-up for the Uruguay team was rescinded, Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani is poised to remain in England for the international break," United stated in a statement.

Another problem for South American internationals is that the third round of qualifiers is scheduled on September 9, just hours before many of them are scheduled to play for their clubs.
