The match between Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday was called off owing to a medical emergency in the stands.

Sergio Reguilon of Tottenham warned referee Andre Marriner of the issue in the 40th minute of the match, prompted by surrounding spectators. A defibrillator was necessary for a supporter in the East Stand at St. James' Park, according to teammate Eric Dier, who ran over to the Newcastle bench.

Newcastle stated that the supporter was stretchered out of the stadium and stabilized on their route to a local hospital after getting medical treatment.
