The football associations of Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Mexico are waiving a five-day ban for players who have not been released by their clubs for the previous international phase. According to Goal.com, this was decided after a lengthy discussion between the officials and FIFA.

Due to travel restrictions as part of the corona pandemic, some clubs decided not to give their players clearance for the international matches.

Fabinho and Alisson Becker from Liverpool FC, Francisco Sierralta from Watford FC, Ederson and Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City, Miguel Almiron from Newcastle United, Fred from Manchester United, Raphinha from Leeds United and Thiago Silva from Chelsea FC. Said players could have been banned for the games on the weekend and games in the Champions League on Tuesday.
