Jose Mourinho and Roma have reportedly blocked the potential return of Barcelona outcast Miralem Pjanic, claims Marca.

Pjanic is reportedly pushing for a return to Serie A, and even to Roma, where he played from 2011 to 2016.

However, Marca note that when the option was presented to him, new Giallorossi coach Mourinho turned it down.

It is also very unlikely that the Roma fans would accept Pjanic back after he left them for rivals Juventus by activating a release clause in his contract.

The biggest problem is not so much the transfer fee, as the €15m per season gross salary that Pjanic commands at Barcelona.

The Blaugrana know they won’t get €45m for Pjanic in the current market, so are prepared to loan him out, with a return to Juve even suggested.

The 31-year-old now feels that he is stuck in the Barca squad, with a contract that runs to June 2024.
