The San Francisco 49ers have expanded their minority ownership position in Leeds United to 44 percent, according to the English soccer franchise.

During Leeds' first season back in the Premier League after a 16-year absence, the NFL franchise purchased 15 percent of the team from Andrea Radrizzani in 2018 and increased it to 37 percent in January.

Aser Ventures' chairman and founder, Aser Radrizzani, owns 56 percent of Leeds.

“We are delighted to see Aser Ventures strengthen their partnership with 49ers Enterprises who have clearly been impressed by the quality of the project,” Leeds chief executive Angus Kinnear said in a statement.

Leeds sits slightly above the relegation zone with two victories in ten games, following a ninth-place finish last season. On Sunday, Leicester travels to Elland Road.
