Real Sociedad are allegedly interested in landing Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata according to Footie Extras

Mata signed for the Red Devils back in the winter of 2014, after finding himself surplus to requirements under the Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho. He had been Chelsea’s best and most key player before the arrival of The Special One, so it looked like a shrewd signing from the Premier League giants and David Moyes.

While Juan has had his moments, the player has never really been successful in having the influence at the club that he did at Stamford Bridge. His significance in the roster has dwindled, with the now 33-year-old playmaker being merely a roster player under the stewardship of the Norwegian head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Todo Fichajes now report that Mata could depart in the January transfer market in search of more regular playing time. The report notes that he was attracting interest from Real Sociedad before extending his contract in the summer. The Spanish side are now back in the hunt.

It remains to be seen what sort of sum the English giants would demand in exchange for their player, were they willing to part company with him in the winter, but it is hard to imagine it being much.
