PREMIER - Report: Newcastle in talks with ex-Bournemouth boss Howe

According to rumors on Thursday, Newcastle is in negotiations with former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe about the vacant manager's position.

Earlier this week, Newcastle's new owners felt they had secured Villarreal manager Unai Emery as Steve Bruce's replacement.

The ailing Premier League team has now switched their focus to Howe after the former Arsenal boss turned down their offer to take over at St James' Park.

During their initial discussions, Amanda Staveley, who is directing the managerial search for the Saudi-backed consortium that bought Newcastle last month, is claimed to have been impressed with Howe.

Howe, who has been unemployed since leaving Bournemouth last year, earned a name for himself by guiding the unfashionable team from the fourth tier to a five-year stay in the Premier League.

After Bournemouth's relegation from the Premier League was confirmed in August 2020, the 43-year-old left the club.
