Commenting upon his own deal extension with AC Milan, 32-year old Danish international centre-back Simon Kjaer, playing for current Serie A ranking co-leaders since January 2020, stated:
"It was clear to me I wanted to be important for this team from the start. Being allowed to stay here is a dream coming true, and I'm proud of it. I wouldn't want to be anywhere but here. I'm in great terms with Paolo Maldini, and he played a key role for me to join here. Now I want to win some trophies for this club.
Boss Pioli is giving everything he can for AC Milan. You can count on him, and he helped us grow into the best team in Italy. Besides, I want to end my career here. Not in 2024, however, I'll still be young".
