While Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri doesn't seem to deem him as much of an asset, as forerunner of his Andrea Pirlo did, 22-year old Dutch international centre-back Matthijs De Ligt is nonetheless in talks with Bianconeri over a further long-term. To this end, Serie A struggling giants are  planning to offer him a year-long extension, pushing current June 2024 deadline to 2025, while decreasing the value his current exit clause, from 120 million euros to a lower sum.

Meanwhile, the 1999-born backliner, purchased from Ajax in summer 2019, on a nearly 90 million euros (add-ons included), is still tracked by Chelsea, while such titans as Barcelona FC and Manchester United might be back after him. In spite of Bianconeri's current pickles, De Ligt is regarded as one of the prominent defensive players on the European scene.
