Inter took the lead after a penalty was handed to them inside the first 11 minutes.

A high press caught Franck Kessié on the ball, and he ended up tripping Hakan alhanolu in the box. The Turkish international took the penalty kick and smashed it clean down the centre to put his new club ahead of his former side.

Stefan de Vrij headed Sandro Tonali's free-kick into his own net six minutes later, bringing Milan level.

The first-half drama continued when Fodé Ballo-Touré fouled Matteo Darmian, giving Simone Inzaghi's side another chance to score from 12 yards out.

In the second half, Milan's chances were few and far between, but they rallied to almost clinch the victory in the last minutes, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic stinging the palms of Samir Handanovi with a thunderous free-kick in the 82nd minute.

Inter remain in third place after failing to close the gap on second-placed Milan, who are still unblemished and lead by seven points.
