The SSC Napoli would like to extend with Lorenzo Insigne. According to Transfermarket insider Fabrizio Romano, a meeting between the 30-year-old's advisor and Napoli President Aurelio de Laurentiis took place on Thursday. The contract talks are officially opened.

Insigne has played for Naples since 2006. Overall, the Italian winger has already played 404 competitive games for Napoli. He scored 111 goals and 88 assists.

The European champions' contract expires in the summer. De Laurentiis wants to prevent a transfer-free departure of the club icon.

On 16 September 2012, he scored his first goal in Serie A, after entering as a substitute for Edinson Cavani in a 3–1 home win over Parma.

Four days later, he made his debut in UEFA club competitions, starting in a 4–0 win against Swedish side AIK Fotboll in the UEFA Europa League.
