MLS – Royal Antwerp confirm move for USMNT defender

US Men’s National Team full back Sam Vines has transferred to Belgian top tier team Royal Antwerp in a $2m deal, excluding add-ons, according to The Athletic. The defender helped USA win the Gold Cup and will now join the list of Americans playing in Europe. The three year deal between Vines and Antwerp will conclude in 2024.
The 22-year-old is a versatile left-back, who has etched his place in the national team. He has made 53 appearances for Rapids so far after coming through the club’s academy in 2018.
Royal Antwerp finished the 2020/21 Belgian Pro League season in second place, 16 points behind champions Club Brugge.
