Arsenal are determined to sign an attacking midfielder in the next few weeks as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his options ahead of the new season. There is just over a month remaining of the summer transfer window and so far the Gunners have completed two signings, with a third one, in the form of Ben White, imminent. football.london reports it.

But Arteta is still keen on adding a creative player to his ranks despite Emile Smith Rowe signing a new contract recently. Emi Buendia was a target for Arsenal, but he moved to Aston Villa earlier this summer, and James Maddison is also on the club's radar, but the north London club want to re-sign Martin Odegaard.

The Norway international spent the second half of the 2020/21 campaign in north London on loan from Real Madrid and had a significant impact. The 22-year-old has confirmed that he wants to fight for his place in Madrid, but there is belief he is open to returning to north London for a second spell and Los Blancos will listen to offers for the Norway midfielder. According to AS, an offer of about 50M€ was made by Arsenal for Odegaard.
