PREMIER - Newcastle and Joe Willock talks at a standstill

As reported by sports outlet The Athletic, there may be trouble on the horizon for Newcastle in their quest to bring Arsenal's Joe Willock to Tyneside on a permanent deal.

Steve Bruce's team where sufficiently impressed with the 21-year old last season, when Willock spent half a season with the Magpies. His arrival coincided with the team's best run of form of the year, with Willock going on an impressive run of seven straight matches with a goal to close the season. Now the club would like to have the youngster on their roster permanently, so much so that last Saturday it was reported that Arsenal and Newcastle had found an agreement on a transfer fee around 20M GBP.

All that was left was for the club to agree with the player on personal terms, but those talks seem to have hit a major snag. The report talks about the parties being "distance apart" in their efforts to find an understanding. It seems that Newcastle's first new signing will have to wait, at least for now, with the new Premier League season just days away.
