According to ESPN's Sam Marsden and Moises Llorens, Barcelona's attempt to enhance their team in January could result in unexpected moves for Chelsea midfielder Hakim Ziyech and forward Timo Werner.

Barcelona has inquired about the availability of the Chelsea duo, who have surfaced as potential replacements for Manchester City's Raheem Sterling, according to Marsden and Llorens.

Barcelona were interested in signing Sterling last summer, but a January move for the England international could be too expensive for a squad wanting to add players on short-term loan agreements.

Barcelona are looking for players who haven't played consistently for their clubs this season because to their budgetary constraints, and Ziyech and Werner fit the description after struggling for minutes at Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel.

Chelsea paid more than €100 million for the two players in 2020, but they have only played in 20 games in all competitions this season.
