TOP STORIES - Diego Forlan sacked by Uruguayan second division club
Already a second blow to the coaching career of Diego Forlan. The former Manchester United and Villarreal striker has just been sacked from Uruguayan second division club Atenas after only 12 games on the first team bench. This is the second sacking for the 42-year-old tactician, after first practicing the trade at Club Atlético Peñarol last year.
If the results were not the most catastrophic with Atenas, it was ultimately a meeting between the former Celeste player (112 caps, 36 goals) and the management of the club that decided his future: indeed , the leaders saw in him a bet for the future of the club and did not want to judge by the results. But a tense discussion between the two sides would have led the San Carlos team to make the decision.
