Juventus not giving up on Axel Witsel
Very close to join Juventus back in 2017, 32-year old Belgian international midfielder Axel Witsel, who had ended up leaving Zenit Saint Petersbourg and started fending, since summer 2018, for Borussia Dortmund (after a brief Chinese Super League spell, into Tianjin ranks), is now a market target for Bianconeri once more. While Serie A struggling giants are tracking much younger deep-lying playmakers, such as Denis Zakaria (Borussia Monchengladbach) and Aurelien Tchouameni (AS Monaco), they might settle, once and for all, for experienced one Witsel himself.
Currently on a deal with German giants until June 2022, Standard Liège alumni and former Benfica playmaker is rather unlikely to be offered a deal renewal, and might end up parting ways with Dortmund, on a free move, once current season's over. Witsel is roughly earning a 6.5 million euros annual salary at the time.
