La Liga president Javier Tebas has stated that Barcelona are being held ‘hostage’ by Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez over the signing of the CVC deal.

The league’s CVC deal in favour of private equity investment was sealed earlier last month as Barcelona, who were close to signing it, opted out at the last moment.

According to Tebas’ interview with Spanish news outlet Sport, it was Perez who played a key role in prompting Barca to take two steps back.

"Florentino Perez is holding Barcelona hostage. They were in agreement with the CVC deal for around a month, until Real Madrid said no. There is an inferiority complex in the club with Perez," said Tebas.

38 out of the 42 Spanish clubs have signed the deal.
