The marriage between Luuk de Jong and FC Barcelona is not very happy yet. The striker is rented from Seville for a year, but is not really coming out well in Catalonia. After the departure of Ronald Koeman, his position seems to be a lot less solid. According to the Spanish media, the club hopes that a third party will take him over in the winter.

RMC Sport reports that the club is participating in a (temporary) transfer to another club. If a third party would want to hire De Jong from Sevilla, Barcelona is willing to let him go. The club would then look for an alternative, as De Jong only found the net once in nine games. Due to injuries to Sergio Aguero and Martin Braithwaite, he still makes many minutes.

Spanish SPORT reports that the club is investigating De Jong's contract, in order to be able to terminate it early. De Jong would not be part of the plans of the new trainer, Xavi Hernandez. The last time De Jong came in on behalf of Barcelona was three games ago. Before that, he played six minutes and five minutes respectively.

De Jong had a good year at Sevilla, after he helped them to the Europa League victory with important goals in the final and semi-final. Then followed a bad year, in which he shuttled between the base and the bank. Sevilla got a third striker with Rafa Mir and so De Jong was able to leave Andalusia.
