Barcelona has parted ways with Ramon Canal, the head of the club's medical department, according to ESPN. The player's medical services, analysts, and physical trainers were all looked after by the doctor.

The board has taken a move in a new direction by firing the head of the medical department. It will be interesting to watch who steps forward to assume responsibility, given the task at hand is sensitive.

The right medical team would not only assist the team in reducing injury frequency, but would also have a direct impact on the fitness of players who are frequently injured. Pedri, Nico, and Eric Garcia are expected to return to the club in time for Xavi's first appearance on the bench.

There have been a few changes to the backroom staff since Xavi's official hiring on Monday. By Wednesday, the former Al-Sadd head had made seven new appointments, and the changes were far from over.
