LIGA - FC Barcelona will have to play with tight budget in the transfer window

Things are moving and they are moving fast at FC Barcelona. A week after the firing of Ronald Koeman, the Catalan club are preparing to bring Xavi Hernandez on the bench. At 41 and after two years at Al-Sadd in Qatar which gave him his first experience as a coach, the former midfielder is preparing to return to the Culés. Problem, he will have to play with tight budget. 

He has already called for reinforcements with Dani Olmo and Tanguy Ndombélé as targeted players. The striker is the priority for this winter since Sergio Agüero has just been injured for a long period. However, Barcelona's finances, as we know, are cramped, not to say very limited. The margin will be low or even zero for the new coach.

Especially since Barça must pay Xavi's release clause. It's reported to be around 5M €. This is already a sum that will have to be cut from the envelope intended for the transfer window this winter. According to Sport, the management will have a budget of € 20 million, up slightly from the latest information that was published last month.

But that's not all. Of the remaining € 15 million, a portion will also be devoted to the severance pay owed to Ronald Koeman. The latter claims 12M €. The Culés offered him between 7 and 8M € payable in two installments to settle the case, which the Dutchman refused for the moment. Whatever the outcome of this case, Barça will likely have a very tight budget to satisfy his new coach.
