LIGA - Sergi Roberto on Joan Laporta’s list of preferred renewals
Sergi Roberto is the newest name on Joan Laporta's list of favored renewals, according to Luis Roco, a writer at Marca. He's already had conversations with Ansu Fati, hopes to begin with Pedri Gonzalez, and has been in continuous contact with Ronald Koeman about his future at the club.
Roberto's contract would be extended for another two years, albeit at a lower pay. Despite the fact that the summer transfers have been recorded, the club is still in need of funds, and every dollar counts. This gesture means a lot to him as an academy graduate and long-time supporter.
Many people, including himself, have questioned his role in the squad. He has been played out of position regularly as a midfielder, and he allegedly prefers to play in a more typical midfield role rather than right back. Supporters have been booing him for his declining performances, most recently in the hammering against Bayern.
