One of the premises that many sports directions control throughout a transfer market resides in the need to double positions. Having two players in each demarcation is key to being able to perform rotations, not exerting physical fatigue and being able to face with integrity the sanctions or injuries that always come throughout such a long season.

That is also the intention of a Villarreal CF that, with the Champions League as a special incentive, is aware that it needs many footballers in each position to be able to compete with all possible guarantees in many cases. But what is done on the sides is to go a few steps than necessary.

The team that Unai Emery trains has, nothing more and nothing less, than 7 full-backs. That is, 7 footballers, many of them with high salary chips, for 2 positions in the starting eleven. And although it is true that the Basque coach is used to using double wingers very frequently, the amount of wingers on both bands that Villarreal has in their squad is simply surreal.

Four right-backs (Serge Aurier, Ruben Peña, Mario Gaspar and Juan Foyth) and three left-backs (Pervis Estupinan, Alberto Moreno and Alfonso Pedraza). Something that is very little seen in the elite of European football and that this new Villarreal CF of Unai Emery will have to try to manage in the best possible way so that everyone can be as connected as possible.
