Economically, all the clubs have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, and Olympique Lyonnais has not escaped it. For the 2020-2021 fiscal year, which begins on July 1 and ends on June 30, OL estimates at “150 million euros the total amount of the direct and indirect impacts of the pandemic on the income from activities, including the loss of earnings linked to the absence of participation in the Champions League last season, " said Thierry Sauvage, general manager of the club, to Progrès.

This translates into a turnover of 177.4 million euros over this period, compared to 271.6 million euros in the previous year. In fact, Les Gones lost € 33.5 million on ticketing, € 28.5 million on TV rights and € 5.6 million on the events sector.

"We have always had very good momentum, with revenue from activities increasing year after year, and EBITDA (Gross Operating Surplus) which increased," continued Thierry Sauvage. “We even set out to break all records and achieve the objectives that we had given to the market, that is to say a turnover of the order of 400M € to 420M € and an EBITDA objective of over 100M € in 2023/24. An objective that will be postponed by one year, for the 2024-2025 fiscal year."
